Unable to type certain characters like apostrophes, quotation marks, or inverted commas into a DaDesktop machine

This frustrating problem pops up occasionally and is linked to your physical keyboard type, language layout, and internationalisation settings.

This is a Windows only Issue

You can sort this out by doing the following:

  1. In the Windows search bar, type 'Settings'
  2. Click 'Time & Language'
  3. Click the language menu item on the left-hand side
  4. Then, under 'Preferred Languages', click your preferred language, then 'Options'.
  5. Then select 'Add a keyboard', and choose the layout for your keyboard, e.g., US keyboard layout
  6. Delete the old keyboard layouts by clicking on them and selecting 'Remove'
  7. Give it a test by typing single quotes, ' ' ', quotation marks, ' " ' and inverted quote marks `.
