FAQ (DaDesktop for Training)

1. For Power Bi and VBA, is Excel available within DaDesktop (DD)? (Since MS Excel functions are required)

  1. No, we don't offer MS Office inside DD (Win10 & Win11 Pro). What we provide is a DD virtual machine and a Training room.
  2. Trainers should organise a free-trial account of MS Office for all delegates.
  3. Alternatively, they can use their own MS Office account.

2. Can I copy items from my own desktop over to my DD desktop?

  1. Yes, we've made available an easy way to upload files from your own machine to the DD Desktop. One small limitation is that at present, only one file can be transferred at a time. Still, it's a breeze to create a zip or archive file with all the files you need, which can then be easily copied over to your DaDesktop machine.
  2. If you're using a cloud storage system, remember to log out of your cloud storage before cloning to all delegates.

3. Why is the text in DD blurry, unclear, or even invisible?

  1. If you're using the Chrome browser, head to "chrome://settings/system" and turn off the Hardware accelerate option.

4. Do Trainers have access to the NobleProg wiki?

  1. No, as per the Terms and Conditions at https://hr.nobleprog.com/trainer/register, a trainer is not allowed to access the wiki.
  2. If you'd like to send something for editing on the NobleProg wiki, please copy & paste and email it to the trainer (a PDF is also fine).

5. Are there any domains we can whitelist when using a proxy or content/network filtering to improve performance?

Yes! Please whitelist any domains that match this pattern:

  1. *.npg.io
  2. https://dd4t.dadesktop.com

For any further queries, get in touch with DaDesktop Support.

6. How can I have multiple desktops when using DD, e.g., for Ansible Training?

  1. Trainers can first set up and choose the DD configuration (RAM, CPUs and disk).
  2. Then, install Virt Manager or VirtualBox within DD to create multiple virtual machines, and configure the network between them.
  3. Once set up, you can clone it to delegates in seconds.
  4. Feel free to contact DaDesktop Support if you need assistance.

7. What is the server capacity?

  1. It depends on the server hardware.
  2. For example, 512GB RAM can be used as 512GB * 3.
  3. The maximum disk per server is 250GB, with 16 Treads of CPUs per desktop. RAM configurations can be customised.

8. Can I download the video from the training recordings?

  1. Yes, recordings can now be downloaded by clicking on the three small dots to the right of the video player.
  2. The video contains audio recording if you use the audio from the training room.

9. Which browser should I use for DD?

  1. Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera all work perfectly.
  2. Other browsers, such as Internet Explorer, are not fully supported.

10. Why is there a big delay when using DaDesktop?

  1. Check your network connection; DaDesktop's performance depends on your local connection speed.
  2. Check your server location: when the coordinator sets up the desktop, they will always pick a server close to the participants.
  3. Turn off your VPN or switch it to PAC mode. Also, please disable any security applications, especially those that interfere with WebSockets, as smooth DaDesktop operation depends on it.

11. WebSocket is blocked or not supported by the network

Remote Desktop access relies on Websocket

  1. This could be your device blocking it. Check any settings/configurations that block WebSocket. For instance, on some Chromebooks, within proxy settings, if the option "Use the same proxy for all protocols" is ticked, WebSocket won't work (because it will set the SOCKS host with a proxy). Untick this and leave the "SOCKS host" blank. That should fix it.
  2. This could also be the network itself, rather than your device. You'll need to contact your network administrator and get them to unblock WebSocket.

12. What GPU support is available, e.g., for 3D applications etc.?

  1. Please check out this GPU page for details on GPU support.

13. Are there any potential issues or answers?

  1. Generally, using DaDesktop is just like using any standard Windows or Linux machine. However, there are a few small issues that may crop up when using certain software applications in a training environment, particularly when cloning machines.

14. Do you support Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation?

  1. No, we don't offer support for Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation, largely due to licensing issues that frequently come up.
