SSH Access

It's fairly common for people to ask for SSH access to DaDesktop machines, as it makes it simpler for both trainers and participants to connect to their Desktop environments straight from their own laptop or desktop PC. It’s easy to see why someone would rather ping commands through a local terminal than wrestle with a terminal inside a remote Desktop session.

Even though it's technically doable, we don't grant SSH access in this setup because doing so would leave the DaDesktop course machines unnecessarily exposed to some pretty serious security risks.

A drag and drop file transfer feature has been introduced so you can easily bring files over from your own laptop or desktop into the DaDesktop environment. Some of the earlier requests for full SSH access came about because there simply wasn't a straightforward way to shift files across, but with this function now sorted, using DaDesktop becomes even more straightforward.

It's worth mentioning that full QEMU Spice Desktop support is now rolled out on both Windows and Linux OS templates, making it a breeze to copy and paste commands from your local machine into the DaDesktop machine—even when you're working off a Mac or juggling non-English character sets.

For DDOP - DaDesktop on Premise servers, SSH access is permitted if required.
