Boosting Connection Performance
From time to time, DaDesktop might give you a heads-up if your connection seems to have a 'latency' (delay) that's too high for decent performance.
If that happens, have a go at the steps below to try and sort out your connection.

What to do
- Plug into an Ethernet connection if you can. If you're stuck with WiFi, run an internet speed test (like speedtest.net) beforehand to see what you're working with.
- Try to set up as close to the wireless access point as possible. Use 5 GHz WiFi instead of 2.4 GHz if you can, as 2.4 GHz often gives slower speeds and cops more interference than the 5 GHz band.
- Turn off or disable any VPNs or proxies before you join the course.
- If you can, disable any security applications that might clash with the network connection, as these can sometimes affect speed, that is, latency.
-
Participants might want to have a yarn with their company's IT support for a hand, especially if their network is affected by content or network filtering etc.
Whitelisting the following domains can help:
1. https://\*.npg.io (e.g., any host at .npg.io)
2. https://dd4t.dadesktop.com - Try not to do any big downloads or uploads during the course. For example, pause Windows/Mac/Linux updates until the course is over if you can.
-
Internet speed should be quicker than: "10 Mbps download & 1 Mbps upload"
