Alternative to Strigo
Why choose DaDesktop over Strigo?
While Strigo provides complex drop-in infrastructure, it falls short on cost, speed, and offers no nested virtualisation — that is, the ability to run VMs inside the VM in the app. Nested virtualisation is especially handy for teaching server applications like Kubernetes and Docker, giving you a full 'end to end' test bed.
DaDesktop, in contrast, delivers a cost-effective, high-performance solution with exceptionally fast nested virtualisation built in by default, a simpler user interface, and an on-site option. With a far greater number of data centres available across New Zealand, you get much lower connection latency, resulting in a smooth, powerful, and highly responsive learning experience every time.
DaDesktop is also a complete, ready-to-go solution, whereas Strigo is a drop-in product that may need complex configuration to fit into another LMS. This can often lead to firewall headaches for clients.
Finally, for customers in New Zealand who need an on-premises option for accountability and security reasons — where the app can be hosted on their own infrastructure — DaDesktop fully supports this. Strigo, however, is only available as an API-hosted platform and appears unable to be used on-premises in this way.
